Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is SAIBA?

A. SAIBA is a group of visually impaired people and others who meet regularly on a social basis. We organise trips and other events such as meals at country venues, theatre and other places of interest.

Q. Who runs SAIBA?

A. SAIBA is run by the members, for the members.

Q. If I were to join SAIBA, could my partner come too?

A. Yes certainly, we welcome all who wish to join us.

Q. Do you have to be visually impaired to become a member, or can anyone join?

A. Membership is open to anyone who would like to join us.

Q. Is there a membership fee or annual charge when I join?

A. Yes there is a small membership fee of £3.00 annually. This is payable on joining and subsequently every year at our AGM, which is usually held in April.

Q. You say that you go on trips, but if I wanted to go on one, what do I do about transport.

A. We usually arrange a minibus, with a pick-up point in West Bromwich town centre. Members are subsidised for the transport costs, but they are responsible for their own travel to the pick-up point unless otherwise specified.

Q. If I join, can I bring a friend on your trips?

A. We do try to accommodate guests. However this is entirely dependent on transport availability.

Q. Do you only arrange events, or can I meet some of the members before I join?

A. SAIBA meet every tuesday evening from 8:30pm at the following venues: The first Tuesday in the month at The Billiard Hall, St Michael St, West Bromwich, the second at The Wheatsheaf, High Street, West Bromwich, the third at The Waggon & Horses, Church St, Oldbury, the forth will be back to The Wheatsheaf, High Street, West Bromwich. If there is a fifth Tuesday in a month we will go to the Wheatsheaf so we stay in sync

Thank you for your interest and hope to see you sometime.
